Update on 7

Possessions month has come and gone. I did find a place #6 in which to donate. A couple that taught in China with us, now live in Cambodia as missionaries. They are setting up a community center and requested books and elementary aged teaching materials. While I don't have teaching materials, I have asked a teacher friend for help. But, I do have lots of books and can donate 7-14 of them, or 1-2 days worth. I haven't yet sent them off but will this month. The couple is in the states through the middle of August. I'm still looking for place #7, but I have a few ideas.

It was hard to stay focused this month given that I had gone through all of my stuff back on April. Also, a couple of the places I intend to donate needed me to hold on to it for now. I did drop off my clothes at Pathways and they were very grateful! They also said they could use our baseball caps, shoes, etc, so I'll be gathering that stuff up this weekend and dropping it off next week.

This is supposed to be media month, but I've struggled with deciding what to give up. I sit at a computer all day, so giving up Facebook, internet surfing, etc just isn't very feasible, especially on days when I bring my lunch and end up sitting at my desk to eat it. I could give up the iPad/computer at home and probably will try to use it less... We also gave up cable back in January, so TV watching has been extremely limited for the past 6 months. But, that's only 2 things, I need 5 more and couldn't really come up with anything. Maybe the radio in my car...??

Anyway, in addition to my indecisiveness about media fasting, my Council has also gotten busy this summer and dropped out. Therefore, I've decided to suspend my 7 experiment until Jen's Bible Study comes out in December. I'm hoping to facilitate a group in doing to 7 Bible study next Spring. I'm really looking forward to the Bible study going along with the experiment and hope/pray that many more women will be interested in doing the experiment with me! It will only be 7 weeks, instead of 7 months, which is not quite as intimidating.

So, I'll pick up this blog label next Spring!

If anyone else has been doing this and gotten discouraged or lost focus, how did you get back on track??

Happy 4th!

With July 4th falling in the middle of the week, it was hard to plan much. We ended up inviting the Christie's over for lunch and playtime in the backyard.

Happy 4th!

Having fun in the backyard!
After lots of fun, the kids (and me) needed naps.

Miles and Ella headed home for a nap!
That evening, we headed over to their house for dinner and fireworks.

Taylor loves some chips and dip!
We didn't get any pictures of the fireworks, but the church down the hill from the Christie's house put on a great show! Adam and Wes also had their fun shooting off fireworks!

Happy Birthday America!

Another Fun Weekend!

As I mentioned in the last post, Adam got to continue celebrating his birthday the next weekend on a Friday night camping and Saturday fishing trip with Wes.

Wes caught the only fish that day
Mama Donna picked Taylor up from school Friday afternoon and took her to Alabama Adventure. I got to get off work early and met them there. We had a blast! Taylor spent the night with Mama Donna and Papa Rex Friday night while Adam was camping. And, I got to have dinner with my friend Andrea. It had been way too long since we hung out!

Amber and I went shopping for a few hours Saturday afternoon. After Adam picked up Taylor, he headed to the galleria too, and took Taylor for a carousel ride!

After we got home, Adam taught Taylor how to drink from a water hose!

So cute!

Another fun weekend in the books! Even though we're busy, I'm so glad we're at home for the foreseeable future! I was getting tired of being gone every other weekend. I think we missed every other Sunday at church between February and June!

Next up, 4th of July!

Happy Birthday Adam/Daddy!

Adam's birthday weekend started off on Thursday night with a Lady Antebellum concert! We went to a Meet and Greet with them before the concert. They were really nice and took a few minutes to talk to us!

Adam's mom picked up Taylor from school on Thursday so we could go to the concert. Since Nannie and Papa kept Taylor through Saturday, we went out for dinner Friday night!

On Saturday morning, Adam went fishing in his new (to him) kayak. (I told him after he bought it, that it was his Father's Day present.) Adam's parents brought Taylor home and took us to lunch for Adam's birthday.
This picture is actually the next weekend when Adam and Wes went camping.
Saturday night, (after Taylor and I took a nap) our friends, the Christie's came over to celebrate Adam's b-day. (I did terrible at taking pictures of this weekend!)

Here's the cake Brad's sister-in-law made for Adam!

After church and naps on Sunday, Adam and Wes took the kids shopping. Here's a pic of all 3 in the back seat of Adam's truck!

Adam got to continue celebrating his birthday the next weekend on a camping trip with Wes.

Happy Birthday, honey! Taylor and I love you so much!
